Very slow, laid back day here this Sunday. Got up and watched a Chris Vallotton sermon on ibethel.tv... always good. Went for a walk down to the market area and did a little shopping. Clothes seem to be less here than the US and picked up a couple bargains. Also stopped in a pizza place and ordered a pizza using pictures and gestures since no one spoke any English. It was a beautiful day sitting outside, drinking a beer and eating a pizza... i think that's the most I've eaten since we got here. Most of the shops closed down around 3pm so we are just a little bored. I made the poor assumption before we left of being able to download movies and tv shows from either Hulu or Netflix or NBC or Fox or CBS or anything but as I found out, they only will download in the 50 consecutive United States. There are a few old american movies on the local TV that have dubbed in Russian. My favorite so far is the classic Patrick Swayze 1984 film "Red Dawn" where the USSR invades the US.
Big day tomorrow... we head back down to the Sea Camp tomorrow so someone from the Child Protective Services can watch us interact with Stas and confirm we are who we say we are. Tomorrow is also the day Stas signs the papers saying he wants to become a Funk and come to America. We also move out of out Khershon apartment and move into our apartment in the resort town of Skadovsk which has a population of about 20,000 so we shouldn't stand out too much there... especially once I get my speedo and man purse. Pictures to follow...
Dave in a speedo and man purse . . . I see potential blackmail opportunities here which may balance out when you factor in the embarrass-the-children cache you can get from it. I say go for it! Any news on how Stas' biological grandma is leaning toward this?
